We will be offering a Junior High Crew for the first time this fall, for seventh and eighth graders in the Fox Chapel Area School District. This will be the first Junior High crew in the area, although several other crews are considering the same thing. Our plan is to practice one day a week, and to have several scrimmages later in the fall, either against another crew, or in combination with our novice and experienced high school crews.
Practices will be held on Friday afternoons in September and October, with an occasional option for a Saturday morning practice or scrimmage. The first practice will be held on September 10. When there is a Friday holiday, practice day may be adjusted if needed. Practices will be held at the Millvale Boathouse of Three Rivers Rowing Association, where we also have access to rowing machines and indoor tanks.
This team is designed to help new rowers and those who have rowed in out junior high summer camps to maintain and advance the skills that they have learned. The crew will be coached by our Head Coach with assistant coaching from members of our Varsity Crew. The cost for the fall crew will be $50.
